    Kingston Clay Studio offers professional, high-reliability kiln firing for local potters, hobbyists, and NDIS participants. We pride ourselves on a fast, 6-day turnaround for all pieces dropped off at our studio.

    • 6-Day Guarantee: We aim to have your work through the kiln and ready for pickup within 6 days of drop-off.

    Private Kiln Hire

    Need a dedicated firing for a large production run or a specific project? Rent a full kiln for total control over your firing schedule.

    • Custom Temps: We can fire any range from Cone 022 to Cone 10.

    • Flexible Timing: Perfect for tight deadlines or specialized clay bodies.

    • Expert Setup: Our staff can assist with custom programming for your specific needs.

  • We offer a glazing service with many glazes to choose from. These are White, Wine Red, Weiser Honey, Floating Blue, Sea Foam Green, Clear, More glazes coming soon!

    Glazing prices follow the same volume formulation as the glaze firing service. Total Volume time 0,00305 cents. See kiln firing service and scroll to see how to calculate your objects volume.

    The wax service ensures the bisque fired pieces are waxed on the bottom so they can be dipped in our glazes. Prices are determined by measuring across the bottom of the piece and are as follows.

Our mandatory Studio Induction is a one-time session required for both Casual (Hourly) and Multi-Access (Monthly) potters. We’ll walk you through the space, show you the ropes, and ensure you can create safely and confidently.

    What We’ll Cover:

    • The Machinery: A hands-on safety briefing for our pottery wheels and the slab roller.

    • The Logistics: Where to buy clay, how to store your works-in-progress, and how to navigate our Kiln & Firing Services.

    • Studio Etiquette: * Cleanup 101: The "Golden Rule" of pottery—leave your space cleaner than you found it.

      • Kitchen & Bathroom: Where they are and how we keep them tidy for everyone.

    • Access & Hours: How to check in for your hourly sessions or make the most of your monthly membership.

Whether you're reinforcing skills from a term class or just need a creative escape, our studio is your playground.

    We don’t believe in "basic" equipment. When you drop in, you have access to the finest machinery on the market today:

    • The Wheels: Choose between the near-silent precision of Shimpo Whisper wheels or the legendary power of Australian-made Venco (including their high-performance Drive and Flex models).

    • The Tools: From professional-grade banding wheels to our heavy-duty slab rollers, we provide the top-tier equipment you need to execute professional-level work.

    • The Space: An immaculate, bright studio designed for creative flow. With plenty of dedicated hand-building tables and spacious workstations, you’ll always have room to move.

    • Shelf Rental: Need a home for your pieces between visits? Rent a dedicated shelf for just $16.50 GST inc a month.

    • Community Firing: All work is fired using our fair and transparent volume-based system.
